Fiona

The firm is authorised by Chartered Accountants Ireland to provide Accounting, Tax, Audit and Insolvency services. Fiona herself is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and has been appointed to the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Fiona started her career by training in Deloitte followed by several years working in multinational industry roles before setting up her hugely successful firm, FAH Chartered Accountants, in March 2014.

Fiona is a multifaceted accountant; she has a wealth of experience in advising clients on their business strategy and management processes in particular the finance function of their business and implementation of best practice in the areas of finance, audit and tax compliance.

Fiona is an experienced liquidator and holds a Diploma in Insolvency. She can advise on all areas of insolvency including members' voluntary liquidations and creditor's voluntary liquidations.

Fiona is a qualified Chartered Tax Consultant (CTC), having placed first in her class for her CTC exams, with experience in all areas of tax structuring and planning, and tax compliance and is experienced in Revenue tax audits and settlement negotiations with Revenue..

Fiona deals with business tax planning as well as personal (family) taxes and estate planning/succession planning tax.

Fiona also deals with solicitors regarding the tax implications for transactions instructed to them by their clients (eg. conveyancing, drafting of a will, gift transfers, deed of arrangement etc.) - such transactions may have CGT/CAT/Stamp Duty or other tax implications. Transactions may also be not in the best tax efficiency for a client (taking account of various tax reliefs available). Solicitors engage Fiona on behalf of the client to review a proposed transaction and advise on the tax implications of it as well as possible alternatives to achieve the client's aims in a more tax-efficient manner.

Fiona also liaises with solicitors regarding the closing of a client's tax affairs with Revenue in cases where a tax return filing is required or tax affairs need to be brought up to date/negotiated with Revenue for closure.

Finally Fiona handles the finance function of Irish subsidiaries for US corporate entities, managing all aspects of reporting to US parent companies, Irish tax and compliance, Irish GAAP and US GAAP translation and local accounting requirements and financial statements filings.

Fiona Hickey is the Managing Partner and owner of FAH Chartered Accountants. FAH Chartered Accountants was named Small Practice of the Year and Practice of the Year at the Irish Accountancy Awards 2022.
